Autistic & Neurodivergent License Plates
South Carolina drivers can apply for a specialty license plate for families with Autism or Neurodiversity thanks to Rio's Law. Now, first responders can be informed if someone inside the vehicle has the potential for a sensory reaction or other behaviors related to Neurodivergence BEFORE approaching the vehicle.
Apply for Your Plate
Step 1:
Obtain a disability plate application (Form RG-007A) and a specialty plate application (Form MV-95) from the SCDMV in one of 2 ways: Download RG-007A and MV-95 and print, or pick up in-person at any SCDMV location.
Step 2:
Complete the forms and have the diagnosed individual's Primary Care Practitioner complete the medical info.
Step 3:
Return the completed forms to your local SCDMV and wait for your plate to arrive!
Sign the Petition for a Life-Saving Database
Help us convince South Carolina leaders to establish a life-saving database for all individuals with Autism or Neurodiversity. This database would serve as resource for first-responders to know who they are interacting with and how to best handle each individual's reactions in order to de-escalate situations quickly and safely.
